Mac laryngoscope has a curved blade which allows exposure of the larynx by positioning the tip in the vallecula, anterior to the epiglottis, lifting it out of view. The Mac laryngoscope is probably the most successful durable in the history of anesthesia to date.
The blades of Mac laryngoscope is made of high quality Polycarbonate and compatible with green system handles and an acrylic rod with high optical transmission properties.
Mac laryngoscope blades come with polyacrylate fiber for maximum white luminous intensity allowing instant illumination of the oral cavity. Matt or satin finish steel minimizes reflections and reduces discomfort.
Mac laryngoscope originally designed to facilitate intubation in unparalyzed patients.
Mac laryngoscope designed only two sizes of blade – adult and child. Two versions became the most popular, the English E-Mac and American A-mac. Compared to the E-mac the A-mac has a higher flange and the curve of the blade is not completely continuous.
